My Emerald City Commission Pre-Sale is going strong and I just wanted to send out a reminder that Wednesday is tthe last day to get on the commission list. Peng and I will be signing at the BOOM! Studios booth over the entire weekend so don't miss your chance to get a commission from one or both of us.

Here are the details from my last post:

• full-body commission (prices are per character) - $100 for color | $50 for black & white
• waist-up commission (prices are per character) - $50 for color | $25 for black & white
• what to expect - full-body commissions are drawn on 11x17" smooth bristol | waist-up commissions are drawn on 8.5x11" smooth cardstock | little to no backgrounds (backgrounds are an additional fee - contact me for more info) | my con commissions are colored with copic markers
• payment - i take Paypal for this only. i do ask for full payment up front instead of at the show. it's absolutely nothing personal. i just want to make sure that if i draw for someone, they really want it.
• pick-up - you can pick up your finished commission from me as early as the Friday of the show. if you contact me next Wednesday evening with a commission request, then i may have to take your piece to finish after the first day of the show, in which case you can pick it up on Saturday. you can find me at the BOOM Studios booth sketching up  FVZ  covers OR possibly hanging out with Peng-Peng as she draws  sketches on the Adventure Time  side. if you can't pick up your piece for some reason at the show, email me and i'll contact you when i get back home so we can work out details then.

here's something new!  Peng-Peng and i will be attending Emerald City Comic Con for the first time ever at the end of the month! We are both all the way boosted. BOOM! Studios, the great folks that bring you Fanboys Vs Zombies and Adventure Time comics, are having us come all the way to Seattle, WA to sign stuff and sketch even more stuff all weekend. with our strict schedule at the booth, neither of us will have any time to do any personal commissions at the show. soooo, we've decided to try a pre-convention commission list starting now until next Wednesday, Feb. 27th. if you want to get a commission from me, get on my list now and you can pick up your piece from me at the show! interested? here are details.

Design stuff

One of the best things about working on Fanboys vs Zombies is the freedom I'm given in terms of character design. With each arc so far there has been an opportunity to make some changes to each characters look.  I know it helps keep the book fun to draw, and hopefully fans of the book enjoy the change of pace too.

SO today I just wanted to share some of the sketches I've done to get ready to jump into a new story arc.

Amanda is the very first character I got to create from scratch. She is also my favorite character in the book

This character is the bad guy from the second arc. He got his name changed to Gunther in the book.

I was really excited when I got the chance to design Brendan. He is one of the most fun characters to draw. On a side note I modled him after Super Star artist and super cool guy Khary Randolph

Concepts for Drake as a ghostly spirit

My very first attempts at redesigning Burger and Rob. Initially I really wanted them to look like bad ass zombie killers. I also wanted to push the idea that Rob is really into Star Wars in a visual sense.

This is more or less what we ended up going with. scaled back, but still very tough and more easily recognizable as the guys from the first arc

My idea for these designs for the cast going into the second arc was that it's been a month or so since we last saw our guys and they have really adapted to the situation. and being Fanboys and girls they are really embracing the badass post apocalypse idea

for the third arc I wanted to reach back and kinda let each characters personality show through there cloths. kinda like this is who they really are kinda thing

This year I want to produce a super dope artbook and have some really cool prints for con season. So I've been doing warm up sketches with an eye toward creating some work that can be polished up and used in the book and at cons.
