The production of Hyperboy is moving along pretty well. The script is really coming together and I'm feeling good about he direction of the plot. I've started thumbing out the book already, but I'm sure I'm going to stick with the horizontal format. I really like it, but the it isn't very friendly to the retail market. I pretty sure I'm going to have to switch to a more traditional format. Having said that I like the energy of these roughs so I will probably rearrange them to fit a vertical format.

Any how, thanks for checking in on me! Next week I probably wont have any new Hyperboy work because I'm prepping for Wondercon. I'll still have something to look out for so I'll see you back here next week!

Now that I'm focused on producing the full Hyperboy book I'm making new character designs and filling in the plot. This new art is most of what I came up with last week. My plan is to keep updating this site with all the new art and story work for Hyperboy as I go along.

Another busy week. I'm still keeping a bunch of projects going all at once. Its the freelance way! I just finished up a cover for an independant book, I'm starting roughs on Claims issue 3, doing some trading card art, and working up the script for Hyperboy.

I'm really trying to stay focused on Hyperboy because I dont want to lose my momentum. I know its going to be a bit tougher to keep producing new art as convention season rolls in, but I guess if it was easy everyone would do it!

Busy Bee

As convention season gets a little closer I've been working on a few different projects to make ends meet as well as tinkering with the story for Hyperboy's full length adventure. As I work on the book I'll be posting each page and progress here, but I'm thinking of creating a Tumblr page for the comic itself so it can be read online from start to finish.

For todays posts, though I'll be sharing some other art of done recently. Most of it is Blueprint 2 related and some is just for fun!

Third Eye Blueprint 2 Signing

The tour continues! This weekend come see me and the IDentity Crew signing fresh copies of the Blueprint 2. We will be signing from 11am until 1pm at the Annapolis location! We love being at Third Eye. It's a great place to find your comics and just be with people who know comics.

So I've been away from DA for quite some time. I've been really busy working in comics and getting my feet wet in animation. Some of you know that back when I was first on DA I created a comic called Hyperboy. It was a labor of love and my first real attempt at publishing. now more than 10 years later I'm teaming up with my squad at ID Studios to produce an anthology featuring creator owned characters and stories called the Blueprint 2. The entire studio featuring:

KickStarter CountDown

  The Identity Comics Studio is returning to it's roots and going back to self publishing! Our kickstarter will go live on July 11th (that's 7/11!) We are producing our first anthology in 10 years, The BluePrint 2! The book will feature stories written and drawn by the studio artists PENG, FLASH, and myself and with writting by our pals Kenny Groom and Jeffery and Susan Bridges.

My primary contribution to the book is the return of Hyperboy! I created him way back in the late 90s and the team and I produced the first comic back in o6. I've always wanted to come back to the character and the BluePrint has given me the chance to bring him back and give him the update he deserves.

We can't do it with out your help! Please consider supporting our kickstarter. We'll be offering some great rewards including original art from the book and custom commissions. This is a labor of love and we want you to be a part of it!

Hyperboy Returns?

So way back in the day, when I first started trying to get into comics, I created a book called Hyperboy. I worked on it with my studio mates at Identity and I actually drew2 complete issues and started work penciling the third. We only published the first issue then unfortunately, because we really had no idea how to go about self publishing at the time we couldn't gather enough support to keep publishing.  So here I am over 10 years after the first publication of Hyperboy, and I'm getting the ball rolling again. I'm at the very early stages of production right now, redesigning the character and plotting out the first story. It feels great to have something like this moving in the background of all my other projects. It really gets to the heart of why I started drawing comics in the first place. So enjoy these sketches of my creator owned project, Hyperboy!
